Cupping therapy has several types based on how suction is created and applied.
Dry cupping involves placing cups on the skin and creating suction using heat or a pump. The cups stay in place for about 5–15 minutes to improve blood flow and relieve muscle tension.
Wet cupping (Hijama) includes making small cuts on the skin before applying the cups. This method draws out a small amount of blood and is believed to remove toxins and stagnant blood from
the body.
Fire cupping uses a flame inside the cup to create heat. When the cup is placed on the skin, the cooling air forms suction.
Moving cupping involves applying oil to the skin and sliding the cups across the body while maintaining suction. This method is often used for muscle relaxation and pain relief.
